The GAPAC Defoliation Demonstration treatments, sponsored by supporting companies, represent established and emerging defoliation chemistries and combinations.
This year, for the first time, we welcome Micro Flo to the GAPAC Defoliation Demonstration Project.
These plots are located in production areas strategically located throughout the state. This year, four consultants have each chosen a field of high yielding cotton to use for plots.
Ratings will be made at four to five days after application and again at twelve to sixteen days after application. Each location will have a report generated for it, which will be shared with all of the companies that enter in the test. A summary of all locations will be generated and a report given to all interested parties. Results will be posted on the internet on a timely basis (within 48 hours after rating if possible).
We plan to have a field day at several of the locations, inviting consultants, growers, dealers, industry representatives, extension personnel and others.

This
year the Georgia Association of Professional Agricultural Consultants is
planning to have a Cotton Defoliation Project to give our members a
hands on evaluation of cotton defoliants on the market.
We would like to have the plots available for others in the
cotton industry including growers, dealers, basic reps., extension
personnel and others. Our
goal is to learn more about cotton defoliation in Our
plan is to have four to five locations across the state where we set up
the same trial design on uniform high-yield potential cotton.
We are soliciting support from industry asking each company to
enter treatments that they would like to have in the trial.
After the treatments have been submitted, we will provide each
participating company a list of all intended treatments so they can
review and edit theirs if necessary.
The market price for each treatment will be included in the data
summaries.
Each location
will be carefully chosen for uniformity and correct stage.
Danny
Bennett and Lee Dykes are responsible for of making the applications and
arranging the treatments to be put in the test.
Danny and Lee will be responsible for having all locations rated at four to five days after application and again at twelve to sixteen days after application. Data will be collected as follows:
1. Percent Defoliation 2.
Percent Desiccation 3.
Percent Green Leaves 4. Percent Boll Opening at 10-14 days 5. Percent Regrowth Rating at 10 to 14 days
